Not the Same Old Story

April 17, 2014

It’s no secret that America’s population is rapidly aging. As medical advances continue at the speed of light, people are able to live longer. But, more important, they are able to live better.

Science tells us that there are three important reasons that the entire population is living longer.

  1. Exercising more
As we learned that being active was probably the best thing that you could do for your health, people are taking the initiative to get up and move. All across America, people are making a conscious effort to limit television time and increase activity. Whether through a walkers club at the local shopping mall or an exercise program at the YMCA, people are lowering their risk for heart attack and stroke by working to reduce plaque buildup in their veins.

  2. Eating better
If you want your car to run, you put the right type of gas in it. You wouldn’t put unleaded in a tank that requires premium, after all. And it’s the same with your body. In order to run a proper machine, you need to put the right food in it. That means whole grains, lean proteins and lots of fruits and vegetables. The more healthily people eat, the more fit their whole bodies are.

  3. Stressing less
Time and time again, studies have shown the negative health effects of stress. Nearly every medical journal lists dozens of negative consequences, such as heart disease, stroke, obesity and rapid aging. It is important to take time to relax and try to put work out of your mind. Better yet, eliminate some stress by giving some responsibilities to others.
